The Culture Collection University of Gothenburg (CCUG) operates within the Unit of Molecular Microbiology,which is part of the Department of Clinical Microbiology at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, see: https://www.sahlgrenska.se/omraden/omrade-4/verksamhet-klinisk-mikrobiologi/molekylar-mikrobiologi/

The CCUG serves as the National Reference Laboratory for Bacterial species identification, which performs specialized phenotypic, genotypic, as well as genomic analyses for identifying infectious microorganisms when routine methods prove inadequate.

Affiliations
CCUG is affiliated with the University of Gothenburg through the Sahlgrenska Academy, Institute of Biomedicine, Department of Infectious Diseases. Prof. Dr. Edward R.B. Moore (PhD) was Adjunct Professor of Bacteriology in the Department of Infectious Diseases at the Institute of Biomedicine, Sahlgrenska Academy. Prof. Dr. Johan Westin (Chief Physician) is Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases at the Institute of Biomedicine, University of Gothenburg. Prof. Dr. Marianne Qviding Järbrink is Head of the Institute of Biomedicine.

Research Partnerships
CCUG is a founding member of the Centre for Antibiotic Resistance Research (CARe), a collaborative Centre of Excellence established through the Global Challenges platform at the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology, with support from Sahlgrenska University Hospital and the Västra Götaland Region.
